Cop Gone Wild - Lying and making threats just part of the job... [Video]

A motorist who refused to discuss his personal business with a St. George, Missouri police officer was threatened with arrest last Friday. Brett Darrow, 20, no stranger to unconventional encounters with police, caught a St. George Police Sergeant named Kenline stating that he had the power to invent charges that would put Darrow behind bars.

"Try and talk back... to me again," yelled Sergeant Kenline. "I bet I could say you resisted arrest or something. You want to come up with something? I come up with nine things."

The incident began at around 2am. Darrow was to meet a friend who was working late and was going to pick him up. Darrow headed toward a 24-hour commuter parking lot in an unincorporated part of Saint Louis County in his 1997 Nissan Maxima. He put on his turn signal and entered the lot which, aside from Kenline's cruiser, was essentially vacant. After stopping the car, the police officer approached and began questioning Darrow about what he was doing. When Darrow declined to discuss his personal business, the police sergeant exploded. Although the video clearly shows Darrow driving properly and using his turn signal, the police officer insisted that Darrow had broken the law.

"Oh, while you were coming towards me you were swerving back and forth within the roadway," Sergeant Kenline said. "I might give you a ticket for that. You want me to come up with some more? When you turned in, you failed to use your turn signal, your right turn signal."

Without the video, Darrow points out that he would have stood no chance disproving the officer's word in court. Twenty-eight percent of the St. George municipal budget comes from traffic citations. Darrow wonders how many of the tickets were legitimate.

How is any of what happened Darrow's fault? He is within his rights to ask why the policeman is detaining him. Kenline needs to be fired. Big time.

It looks like the kid baited the officer. Nevertheless, the video footage demonstrates that this police officer has no business being a cop. Hopefully, he'll get fired, and then he'll probably be only a menace to the helpless prisoner population he'll now be guarding. And the kid, well, he'll die an early and brutal death trying to capture his next police gone bad video.

Hi marmot,

Since you are pasting the same 'exact' post all to other boards... I will do the same with my reply:

Marmot says: "It looks like Brett baited the officer".

SO WHAT!? My God, if baiting an officer is asserting your RIGHTS, may he have mercy on us all.

Who gives a shit if he "baited". If he did, and I am not saying he baited, the officer rose up with a minuscule of enticement. That means he is an overly aggressive cop. Thats like a pitbull tearing your arm off because you tugged on it's tail. The reaction is out of whack with the provocation (if there was indeed any). Again, asserting your RIGHTS isn't baiting nor is it provocation.

That's how it always is....BLAME THE VICTIM, MORMOT...SGt. Goober shouldnt even be allowed to the store by himself. I would like to see how you'd react next time you get "forgot" to use a signal and meet Sgt. Goober.
I am sure you'd have a different story to tell us then. Until then, let the growns up talk and go to bed, Bithch....

who cares if the officer was 'baited'? how the hell else are we supposed to figure out which cops are abusing their authority? it's like a secret shopper or a food critic. the only difference is that the secret shopper in this case is a tax-paying citizen! this kid was well within his rights, and more of us need to take such a proactive role ... afterall, the police need to be accountable just like the rest of us, if not even more so.

In America police officers are routinely sent to jail for stopping and raping women and boys, beating the snot out of minorities and poor people, and planting evidence or perjuring themselves in court. In America cops are truck divers with badges.

Just manage the crime Wiggam.

I hope he never works as a cop again.

My bet is that he was either a bully at school who never grew out of it or he was the boy being picked on and now has a gun and badge plus a little bit of power.

Either way its messed up.

the cop says that he didnt use his turn signal. but if you watch the video he did.... just goes to show you that cops arent always honest. and sometimes honest people end up in jail... he was a jerk for no reason.

Whether or not Brett baited the officer, Kenline (not the correct spelling, BTW) shouldn't have gone for the bait. Being a jerk isn't a crime; neither is being pissed at being bothered at 2am. Darrow wasn't loud and he wasn't profane. He simply refused to kowtow to a bully with a badge. Those of you who say he should have replied, "Yes sir, no sir, three bags full sir" are telling him to give up rights you don't understand and don't deserve to have.

This cop was clearly out of control and deserves to be fired immediately. I thought cops were sworn to serve and protect, not harass and clusterf**k, people into giving up constitutional rights. This dipshit crossed the line when he threatened Brett with bogus charges. I would worry about young women driving in this city with cops like this skulking around. They would probably plant some bogus evidence and then try to sexually harass the women for sex in order to get the charges dropped. If you don't believe it look into the past of the police chief of this sorry department. Those who trade liberty for security deserve neither.

Ron c says:

Americans need to get their head out of their collective asses. Cop culture in America is such that cops expect cops to cover for them when they break the law. That includes lying under oath, known as "testilying" in police jargon.

If this abusive cop had a partner with him he no doubt would have lied and said this abusive incident never happened to cover for his partner. THINK about that people: Cops EXPECT their brother cops to cover their crimes. These are people sworn to uphold the law.

So here's the bottom line: A good cop is just a bad cop waiting to happen. There is no such thing as a good cop when every cop who isn't abusive will protect a cop who does.

Super Dave says:

The serious matter that I made a complaint about to the State Medical Board was me having been a victim of a false imprisonment, etc. to an ugly state mental hospital then named Malcolm Bliss on 4-26-87 by a bad First District City cop named Louis A. Puricelli (where they shut me up and illegally forced overdoses of strong antipsychotic drugs on me) that I knew and felt I didnt need and was allergic to in spite of my rights and constant verbal objections. Just prior to my discharge on 5-30-87, they forced me to receive a longlasting effect shot which was a big overdose of the drug haldol which caused me great suffering and was painful and also caused me many terrible and tormenting side effects and to lose eight months of my life as I was severly sedated by it, as it made me sleep for 15 hours a day for an enitre eight months. The many other side effects of me being drugged were suicidal thoughts and feelings, severe tremors, severe restlessness, humiliation, bossed around, called lazy, severe sedation, slurred speech, abnormal tongue movements, severe mental distress, severe depression, feeling like a raw nerve, slow bodily movements, almost a vegetable, tied up and locked in a room, assaulted by patients and staff there, they villified me on the medical charts, and many other problems too.
I was deliberately, maliciously and illegally dumped there even after I sustained injuries from a severe beating by four black men in which I was THE victim of attempted murder and armed robbery. Soon later I learned that the attackers were actually aquaintances of the cop whom had forcefully taken me there and he knew what he was doing and had sadistic intent by his acts and words that he was committing serious crimes such as federal obstruction of justice, hindering prosecution, and victim tampering to cover this stuff up of which I was a victim of and it clearly helped the offenders to get away and evade arrest totally.
I have kept all relating police reports, medical records and witness statements too.
These agencies wish to engage in covert targeting of me (personal and or political repression carried out under the guise of legitimate law enforcement against complainants), etc. even their own phony helper and black undercover operative Mr. H. Michael Sweeney who wrote a book calling himself "The Professional Paranoid" agrees. I need an official, outside, independent, thorough, detailed, objective, vigorous, real investigation.
And please inform me if you or others you know can be of assisstance in my case, and help me get the FBI or other proper law enforcement oversight to sincerely investigate the matter herein and raise the funds for legal aid and or find lawyers probono. Ive been harassed and targeted and even illegally surveilled by PI's and many rogue officials at all levels in an attempt to divert me and my official complaints. My case is similar to the ones which I saw on Old-Thinker News concerning Brett Darrow, YouTube, BadCop News concerning the Gaiks and on 60 Minutes on May 4th of 2003 called "Send In The Spies" in which a D. C. jounalist was targeted and harassed profoundly by a bunch of evildoers so she sued the manager of Ringling Brothers and Barnum Baily Circus Mr. Ken Feld after she wrote a book about his shady dealings then was thereafter set upon to attempt smearing, revenge and diversion, etc.
The slight difference in my case is that it involves past serious violations of my civil rights and complaints against rogue governmentals (less people in big business involved here) and many PI's who confessed to some of this in some of our email contacts.

The cop's attitude is wrong, but usually cops can depend on people helping them do their job, not what this kid did, which doesn't help with the crime problem at his lot. The cop was right in only two ways, it is a suspicious vehicle and, most truly, no one would refuse to answer the question "what are you doing here" unless they had something to hide. Let's have that brat do cop work for one day, and his ass would still be crying about his rights and about the difficulty in keeping crime at bay.
