Man Sentenced for Threatening President Bush

A Wheaton man convicted of threatening to kill a federal judge and President Bush was sentenced Monday to 6 years and 5 months in prison.

Michael Disch, 37, was incarcerated in Georgia on traffic offenses in 2004 when he made a series of calls to the federal courthouse in Chicago and threatened to kill a judge who previously had sentenced him in an unrelated case.

Disch also sent a letter to the White House threatening to kill the president.

In addition to the 77 months in prison, which will begin after he finishes serving the state sentence, Disch will be on probation for three years after he is released.

Prosecutors said there was no evidence that Disch had prepared to carry through on his threats.
